Date
2 October 2025 at 1 p.m. ET

Event Title
The Offensive Edge: Integrating Crowdsourced Exploitation into Defensive Cyber Operations

Speakers
Roland Hansen
, Trust and Security Engineer at Bugcrowd
Alistair Greaves, Director of Red Team Operations at Bugcrowd
Casey Ellis, Founder of Bugcrowd

Description: As cyber threats evolve in sophistication, so too must our approaches to testing and securing critical systems. This session explores how crowdsourced security can augment and extend traditional red team operations by emulating real-world adversary behavior at scale. Led by cybersecurity leaders from Bugcrowd—including insights from Red Team Operations Director Alistair Greaves and platform founder Casey Ellis—this conversation will demonstrate how bug bounty-derived access vectors and compartmentalized “atomic” teams can be orchestrated to simulate complex threat campaigns. We’ll discuss lessons from recent government engagements, how crowdsourcing complements traditional teams without replacing them, and the unique operational, trust, and oversight models that enable this work in sensitive environments.

Who Should Attend?
This event is open to the public for those eager to enhance the effectiveness of the Department of the Army Defense Cyber Operations (DCO) cyberspace and cybersecurity infrastructure through critical research, experiments, development, testing, and the development of innovative technologies. The US Government (military and civilian), contractors, SOSSEC members, and non-members are encouraged and welcome to attend these Cyber Talk briefings to learn more about successful technology collaboration. The recommended audience is program managers, development teams, engineers, architects, security managers, security specialists, system administrators, and analysts who work in DoD cyberspace.
