In September 2020, the US Department of Justice indicted seven Chinese nationals for a decade-long criminal enterprise against 100 technology firms and online gaming companies. APT (Advanced Persistent Threats) 41’s attacks have spanned the globe, including pharmaceutical and heavy engineering firms like Bayer and ThyssenKrup. In some cases, APT41 has shown they may not be afraid of violence: during the ThyssenKrup attack, a blast furnace exploded
causing massive damage.
Who are APT41? What’s their history and what techniques do they use?
Please join members of Carbon Black’s U.S. Government team and ThreatAnalyst Unit (TAU) as they present the history of APT41’s activities, its structure, and tactics. The presentation will provide insights to identifying the indicators of compromise with MITRE ATT&CK followed by a roundtable discussion on how these groups will evolve and how can organizations be prepared and protected.
