Today, the Armed Forces face challenges, with growing urgency, to securely access, analyze, and disseminate the massive amounts of information it collects from a broad range of sensors and systems. There is a large and ever-growing disparity between the requirements of mission critical data analysis and its capacity to be securely shared, accessed, moved, and processed over geographically dispersed data repositories. This hinders the ability to have meaningful and accessible data available where it is most needed, and thus limits the ability to act with the most-timely information to achieve mission success.
- Increasing Bandwidth is not enough to carry huge data loads over distance…and often is not possible.
- Adding CPUs and GPUs to existing compute where the data resides is not enough and often not practical
- TCP and UDP Protocols have inherent inefficiencies making transport over distance ineffective.
New technology offers a paradigm shift in how a global WAN can take on LAN attributes and is now able to seamlessly move terabytes of data from either the East and West coasts of the US to its data analysts and scientists in remote locations, or overseas, and over satellites—as well as, having facilitating sending massive amounts of collected reconnaissance data back to Regional Commands for analysis, decisions and mission planning.

This event is open to the public for those who are eager to enhance the effectiveness of the Department of the Army Defense Cyber Operations (DCO) cyberspace and cybersecurity infrastructure through critical research, experiments, development, testing, and the development of innovative technologies. US Government (military and civilian), contractors, SOSSEC members and non-members are encouraged and welcome to attend to learn more about successful technology collaboration from these Cyber Talk briefings. The recommended audience is program managers, development teams; engineers, architects; security managers; security specialists; system administrators; and analysts who work in DoD cyberspace.
About The Consortium
The purpose of the Army’s Cyber Operations Broad Responsive Agreement (COBRA) is to spur innovative development, demonstration, and expedited delivery of prototypes for Warfighter readiness. When awarded an Other Transaction Authority (OTA) there is a requirement to join the System of Systems Consortium (SOSSEC), the consortium manager for Program Executive Office Enterprise Information Systems (PEO EIS).
